Wawa starts construction of first North Carolina store
As the first of 50 locations planned, the retailer celebrated the foray into the state with a special event to kick-off the site’s building.
Wawa has started construction of its first convenience store located in North Carolina. The retailer celebrated the construction’s kick-off with a special event that welcomed community members as well as company representatives.
Attendees who gathered were able to enjoy various branded products such as coffee, pretzels, bakery items, and refreshers. They also witnessed company authorities give details of the store’s design as well as construction timeframes, and an update on the brand’s expansion plans.
Wawa aims to open this facility by the first quarter of 2024 and operate near 50 stores in the state by the next eight to ten years. Other locations that are part of the brand’s growth include Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
After recently opening its 1,000th store, the retailer’s next objective is to expand its footprint to a total of 1,800 locations by 2030.
