EP Petroecuador, Primax S.A. sign 15-year deal to strengthen operations
The agreement will have an impact in the transportation, reception, storage and dispatch of petroleum products.
EP Petroecuador and Primax S.A. have signed a 15-year contract for the reception, transportation, storage and dispatch of petroleum products. This figure is part of the fuel market liberalization strategy promoted by the National Government of Ecuador and in accordance with the guidelines of Decree 95, which promotes the delivery of better quality fuels to the public.
"This is an important step to achieve the objectives set forth in Executive Decree 95, for the benefit of the country, since the signing of this contract strengthens the foundations to boost the fuel market and set firm processes in motion to market higher quality products for the benefit of Ecuadorians," said Petroecuador's Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, María Cristina Cadena.
The execution of this contract allows the use of the oil docks of Esmeraldas, La Libertad and Tres Bocas, in addition to the polyducts, terminals and refineries, all of these assets belonging to EP Petroecuador. It is important to emphasize that the subscription of these contracts implies only the use of EP Petroecuador's facilities, according to the company's operational schedule.
"There is a different rate for the use of each segment of the infrastructure, which in turn, allows EP Petroecuador to charge in a differentiated manner," said Pablo Luna, the General Manager of EP Petroecuador. At the same time, he pointed out that the collection of fees will be established by the Agency for Regulation and Control of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources.
"Additionally, there is the option of a single fee of USD 0.027665 per gallon, which will be applicable, as long as the distribution of the product in all the terminals that were considered for setting the fee is complied with", added Luna.
The signing of this contract with Primax S.A. adds up to five contracts of this kind, since last week the public oil company signed four contracts for the execution of this service with the companies Corpetrolsa S.A., Terpel- Comercial Ecuador CIA. LTDA, Servicios WFSE Ecuador C.L. and Duragas.
