Casey’s to begin CEFCO stores rebranding in early 2026

Conversion of 198 acquired locations will strengthen presence in Texas and the Southeast.

Casey’s General Stores will start rebranding the 198 CEFCO Convenience Stores it acquired in November 2024 at the beginning of 2026. The transition follows Casey’s $1.145 billion purchase of Fikes Wholesale, owner of the CEFCO chain, marking the largest acquisition in the company’s history.

The rebranding process will begin with larger CEFCO locations that already have kitchens, making conversions easier. Once those are complete, the company will move on to the remaining stores. The company expects the integration to improve margins over time, particularly in prepared foods, as the stores adopt Casey’s full assortment, including private-label products.

The acquisition added 148 stores in Texas, a key growth market for the chain, and 50 locations across Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi. This expansion aligns with its strategic plan to increase its footprint in high-volume regions and enhance its foodservice offering.

Casey’s, based in Ankeny, Iowa, operates approximately 2,900 convenience stores in 20 states and is the third-largest convenience retailer in the U.S. The company also ranks as the fifth-largest pizza chain nationwide. In fiscal 2025, Casey’s built or acquired a record 270 stores, driven largely by the CEFCO acquisition.
