Certas Energy launches UK’s first dedicated HVO bunker

Certas Energy has opened the UK’s first dedicated HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) bunker, marking a major milestone in the country’s transition to lower-carbon transport.
The site, unveiled during the Motor Transport Decarbonisation Summit, represents a significant investment in new tanks and equipment designed to create a scalable model for HVO-only refuelling. Located at Tyseley Energy Park in Birmingham, the new facility provides operators with immediate access to renewable fuel, offering a practical solution to reduce emissions in transport and logistics.
The move comes as 62% of haulage, public sector, and construction operators remain dependent on diesel, while nearly 70% are actively seeking lower-carbon alternatives.
This launch positions Certas Energy at the forefront of sustainable transport infrastructure, supporting both market demand and local decarbonisation goals. The company aims to make low-carbon fuel more accessible to businesses looking to transition their fleets and cut emissions.
