Daimler Truck launches TruckCharge Network to accelerate electric freight in Europe

New semi-public charging model aims to make heavy-duty truck electrification more practical and predictable.

Daimler Truck is taking a major step toward decarbonizing freight transport with the launch of the TruckCharge Network, a semi-public charging initiative designed for electric heavy-duty trucks (HDT). The network will connect depot owners, fleet operators, and drivers through a unified digital platform, enabling access to strategically located, HDT-ready charging points across Europe.

The TruckCharge Network introduces a new model for charging infrastructure by allowing depot owners to share unused charging capacity in a controlled, revenue-generating way. Fleet operators will benefit from the ability to pre-book charging slots, improving route planning and operational certainty as they transition to electric fleets.

Spirii, the technology partner behind the platform, supports the initiative with its expertise in digital charging solutions. “Reliable charging options for heavy-duty trucks remain one of the biggest barriers to electrification,” said Tore Harritshøj, CEO & Co-Founder of Spirii. “Daimler Truck’s initiative to enable depot owners to open their charging infrastructure for shared use is a major step forward.”

The network is designed to complement existing private and public charging infrastructure, creating a connected ecosystem that accelerates the adoption of electric trucks. By leveraging digital solutions for charger management and access control, TruckCharge aims to make electric trucking more accessible, predictable, and efficient.

The company sees the TruckCharge Network as a critical enabler for scaling electric transport across Europe in the coming years.
