DCC Energi has partnered with Munich-based ryd, operator of one of the largest open B2C networks for mobile payments at the pump in Europe, to add the service to its fuel retail network in Denmark. A total of 244 Shell service stations will let customers pay for fuel directly from their cars.

Continuously expanding the network in Europe through collaboration with local partners, ryd has extended its availability to the Danish market. The service is available via the firm’s app, one of the partner apps, or via in-car payment.

"The satisfaction of our customers is our top priority. Visiting one of our service stations should be as pleasant as possible for them. This includes offering them flexible digital payment options. The cooperation with an international mobile payment provider like ryd also gives us the opportunity to reach additional end customers through partner apps and in-car payment solutions," said Søren Møller Maretti, Mobility Director at DCC Energi.

DCC is one of Denmark's major energy companies, supplying a wide range of fuels and energy products throughout the country. Among other things, the firm is the largest distributor of products from Shell and Gulf as well as the local operator of the Shell service station network.

"The go-live in Denmark marks another milestone for us on the way to the international expansion of our network in Europe. It makes me very proud that we are now also active in Scandinavia thanks to the cooperation with an established company like DCC Energi," added Thomas Kempf, Head of Energy Networks at ryd.

Founded in 2014, ryd is continuously growing and is already active in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Denmark and is continuously rolling out to other European countries.
