Electra achieves France’s largest EV charging financing with €433M
One of the biggest transactions of its kind in Europe will support expansion of fast-charging network to 15,000 points by 2030.
French electric vehicle (EV) charging company Electra has secured €433 million in structured green financing, the largest ever in the sector in France and among the biggest in Europe. The landmark deal positions Electra to accelerate its goal of building a fast-charging experience across the continent.
The financing was arranged in collaboration with eight major financial institutions: ING, MUFG, ABN AMRO, Societe Generale, Rabobank, Bpifrance, Caisse d’Epargne Hauts de France, and Banque Populaire Val de France. ING Corporate Finance acted as Electra’s exclusive financial advisor on the transaction, which includes an optional €150 million tranche.
This latest funding round brings the company’s total secured capital above €1 billion, marking a significant milestone in its growth trajectory. The company plans to use the funds to scale its EV charging infrastructure to 2,200 stations and 15,000 charging points by 2030, while expanding operations in nine European countries.
Electra said the new financing represents a “new chapter” in its evolution as it works to become a European leader in e-mobility and to support the transition to a more sustainable transportation ecosystem. The company currently operates more than 500 stations and 3,100 fast-charging points across Europe.
