Electra and CEV team up to grow fast-charging network in Germany
Strategic deal with retail property developer will deliver 300 charging parks at EDEKA locations by 2028.
Electra is accelerating its expansion in Germany through a strategic partnership with CEV Handelsimmobilien GmbH, one of the country’s leading retail property developers and managers. The agreement aims to equip around 300 EDEKA Group retail sites with high-performance fast-charging stations by 2028.
The chargers will be installed directly in store parking lots, enabling drivers to give their vehicles a rapid charging boost in just a few minutes while they shop. The rollout at EDEKA locations is part of Electra’s wider growth strategy in Germany, as it plans to have over 30 charging parks nationwide by 2026.
“As a landlord and site developer, we see it as our responsibility to future-proof our retail properties,” said Steffen Buchholz, Managing Director of CEV Handelsimmobilien GmbH.
Electra’s plan is to expand its network to 15,000 fast-charging points by 2030, focusing on urban and peri-urban areas as well as major transport corridors.

Founded in 2020, Electra operates more than 540 charging parks with around 3,300 fast-charging points across 10 European countries.
