Electra, REWE partner to expand fast-charging infrastructure in Germany
New collaboration aims to bring sustainable mobility to everyday shopping locations nationwide.
European fast-charging operator Electra is strengthening its presence in Germany through a strategic partnership with REWE Group. Together, the companies will roll out high-power charging (HPC) stations at selected REWE and PENNY stores across the country, making e-mobility more accessible where people shop.
The first sites are expected to go live in 2026, with a gradual expansion planned over the coming years. The charging parks will be publicly accessible, offering drivers fast and reliable charging during their grocery trips.
“By partnering with REWE Group, we gain a strong ally that is committed to sustainability and reaches millions of people every day,” said Jonas Kossendey, Head of Sales Germany at Electra. “Together, we make e-mobility more convenient, more accessible—and a natural part of the shopping experience.”
Under the agreement, REWE Group will provide prime locations and customer proximity, while Electra will invest in, build, and operate the charging parks. The initiative reflects both companies’ commitment to embedding sustainability into daily life and supporting Germany’s transition to cleaner transport.

Electra currently operates over 600 charging parks with around 3,500 fast-charging points in ten European countries and plans to expand to 15,000 by 2030, with Germany as a key focus.
