Elli partners with UNITI to deploy grid-independent fast charging

Volkswagen’s e-mobility brand unveils next-gen tech to power high-speed charging without costly grid upgrades across 8,600 stations.

At Power2Drive this week, Elli, the e-mobility brand of the Volkswagen Group, announced a landmark partnership with UNITI Bundesverband EnergieMittelstand e.V., the German association representing independent fuel station operators.

The collaboration will bring high-power, battery-buffered charging to more than 8,600 locations across the country—significantly expanding Germany’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The rollout is enabled by the company’s newly launched battery-buffered fast charging system, Flexpole Plus, which delivers up to 150 kW without the need for expensive grid upgrades.

"Our partnership with UNITI is a breakthrough for the accessibility of EV charging across Germany. Together, we’re bringing next-generation charging technology to the independent fuel station network—making charging faster, smarter, and more widely available than ever before," said Giovanni Palazzo, CEO of Elli, on LinkedIn.

Designed for flexibility, the system is ideal for public, business, and fleet environments—especially in areas where grid capacity is limited.

Elli’s partnership with UNITI marks a major step in building a dense, flexible EV charging network to support Germany’s electrification goals—particularly in underserved areas.
