EnBW and Globus strengthen alliance with over 500 fast-charging points

Retailer and energy company accelerate rollout of public EV charging across Germany.

EnBW and Globus have reached a new milestone in their cooperation to expand Germany’s charging infrastructure, with more than 500 fast-charging points installed at 39 hypermarkets in two years.

Averaging around 14 chargers per site, the partnership began in April 2024 when EnBW opened its first fast-charging hub at the Globus store in Limburg an der Lahn. Since then, the collaboration has grown rapidly, with landmark projects such as the Eschborn site, opened in late 2024 with 40 charging points, and becoming the energy company’s second-largest location nationwide.

“Through the consistent expansion of charging options at our hypermarkets, we are making an important contribution to sustainable and everyday-ready mobility of the future together with EnBW,” said Nils Behrens, Head of Fuel & Wash at Globus.

The partners are set to expand further, with an additional 11 hypermarkets  to be equipped with fast-charging infrastructure. Overall, the program foresees around 750 charging points at more than 50 locations nationwide.

Volker Rimpler, Chief Technology Officer at EnBW mobility+, emphasized the strategic value of the collaboration: “Our goal is to seamlessly integrate EV charging into customers’ everyday lives. That’s why we rely on retail partners like Globus. By placing our charging infrastructure at shopping locations, we enable drivers to charge their vehicles as part of their daily routines.”

With more than 7,000 fast-charging points, EnBW already operates Germany’s largest high-power charging network. Its partnership with Globus underscores a joint commitment to sustainable mobility and the expansion of accessible EV charging at key retail and transit hubs.
