ENOC debuts checkout-free ZOOM store with Amazon’s Just Walk Out
The convenience shop at a Dubai service station lets customers pick items and leave without queuing, paying by card or mobile wallet as they exit, a regional first.
ENOC Group has opened its first ZOOM convenience store with Just Walk Out technology by Amazon, at its service station Site 1019, opposite City Walk in Dubai. It is the first use of the technology in the Middle East, and the United Arab Emirates becomes the sixth country to deploy it, after the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and France.
The store is part of ENOC’s plan to turn its service stations into one-stop destinations that combine mobility services with retail. Customers pick the products they need and leave without queuing at a checkout, paying with a card or mobile wallet as they exit.
“The future of retail will be defined by how seamlessly technology can integrate into people’s everyday lives,” said Ali Khalid Bin Zayed Alfalasi, Deputy Chief Commercial & Retail Officer at ENOC Group. “This launch is an important milestone in our journey to create smarter, more connected and customer-centric retail experiences.”
“Convenience stores have operated the same way for decades: customers select their items, join a queue, and wait to pay. Just Walk Out technology by Amazon removes that final step,” said Rajiv Chopra, Vice President, Just Walk Out.
The opening builds on a collaboration announced by ENOC Group and Amazon UAE in October 2025, which also covers using ENOC sites as quick-fulfilment hubs and selling ENOC products on Amazon.
