EVgo and General Motors (GM) have opened a new flagship electric vehicle (EV) charging station in metropolitan Detroit, expanding their efforts to deploy high-power charging infrastructure in key markets across the United States.

The site, located at a Meijer store in Warren, Michigan, is EVgo’s latest flagship charging destination and brings the total number of flagship charging stalls currently operating nationwide to more than 40. The company expects that figure to exceed 100 by the end of 2026.

Designed to enhance the customer charging experience, EVgo’s flagship stations feature larger layouts, enhanced lighting and high-power chargers. The company said future flagship locations will average up to 20 charging stalls and be situated near amenities such as grocery stores, restaurants and retail outlets.

The Warren location sits opposite GM’s Global Technical Center and includes 12 charging stalls supporting both CCS and North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors. The station also features an overhead canopy and pull-through access for vehicles towing trailers. Chargers can deliver up to 350 kW of power, enabling some vehicles to recharge in as little as 15 minutes.

“The EV-driver customer experience is paramount as American consumers choose whether to drive electric,” said Dennis Kish, President of EVgo. “Through our collaboration with GM, we are meeting EV drivers where they are and seamlessly integrating infrastructure options into drivers' lives.”

The new facility expands charging options in Michigan, where EV adoption has accelerated in recent years. According to EVgo, the number of EVs in operation in the state increased sixfold between 2021 and 2025.

As part of its flagship program, EVgo plans to develop additional locations in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan and Texas. Separately, the company has deployed nearly 2,400 charging stalls across 32 states with GM’s support and recently surpassed 1,300 stalls at 300 locations through its charging network collaboration with Pilot Company and GM.
