EVgo speeds up EV charging network with prefabricated stations
Over 40% of stations deployed in 2025 use modular skids to cut costs and accelerate installation.
EVgo has surpassed its 2025 goal by deploying more than 40% of its stations using domestically manufactured prefabricated modular skids. This approach reduces installation time and costs by an average of 15%, while supporting U.S. manufacturing.
The prefabrication process assembles all charging equipment onto a single base frame made from American steel and aluminum at Miller Electric’s Jacksonville facility before shipment to the site. EVgo’s partnership with Miller Electric, a leading electrical contractor, has accelerated timelines and created local jobs, with Miller Electric employing over 1,400 people in the area.
“The prefabrication model is a win-win for EVgo because we can fast-track infrastructure deployment to meet charging demand and support workforce development in this growing industry,” said Dennis Kish, President of EVgo. “Utilizing prefabricated modular skids from Miller Electric is key to scaling EVgo’s nationwide network.”
Beyond efficiency, prefabricated stations integrate features like Wi-Fi, lighting, security cameras, and canopies to enhance customer experience.
EVgo’s prefabricated stations are already serving drivers in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nebraska, New York, and Texas, with more coming to North Carolina, Utah, and other states. Sites can charge up to 14 vehicles simultaneously and feature high-power 350kW fast chargers.
