Fastned and Places for London open first ultra-rapid EV hub

Each of the 12 bays delivers up to 400kW, providing roughly 100 miles of range in five minutes.

Fastned and Places for London have opened their first ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging hub at Hatton Cross Underground station, the inaugural site in a planned network of 25 across the city. The 12-bay hub, located near Heathrow Airport, runs 24/7 on 100% renewable energy and offered five days of free charging to mark its launch.

"With ultra-rapid charging, weather-protected bays, and effortless access, this site is designed around people on the go," said Tom Hurst, Fastned UK country director. "We're making charging simpler, faster, and more reliable for everyone."

The hub includes extra-wide and fully accessible bays, weather protection from Fastned's solar canopies, CCTV coverage, and 24/7 multilingual customer support. Its location near the M25, M4, and A30 positions it to serve airport commuters, taxi and private hire drivers, and commercial fleets.

The opening supports London's target of up to 40,000 charge points by 2030, part of the city's push toward an electric vehicle fleet expected to exceed 1 million by the same year.

"This is the first of 25 new ultra-rapid charging hubs planned across London," said Mete Coban, deputy mayor for environment and energy, adding that the project supports the city's manifesto commitment on charging infrastructure.
