Gasrec grows biomethane refueling network across the UK

New facility in Hams Hall boosts the region’s low-carbon transport infrastructure.

Gasrec has launched its second large-scale, open-access biomethane refuelling station at Hams Hall, strategically located near the M6 and M42. The site is designed to help fleet operators transition to cleaner fuels without compromising reliability.

The facility currently supports up to 300 trucks daily with Bio-LNG, with plans to expand capacity to 1,000 trucks in the coming years. Major operators including DHL, Nestlé, Arla Foods, and Nicholls Transport have already begun refuelling at the site.

“Hams Hall is a milestone for the industry and for operators who want to cut emissions without compromising reliability,” said James Westcott, Chief Commercial Officer at Gasrec. “We are seeing record levels of demand for biomethane from fleets, and this new facility provides the scale and resilience they need.”

Hams Hall is the first in a new series of public biomethane stations Gasrec plans to open across the UK, including sites in Warrington and Avonmouth within the next 18 months. These will complement the company’s flagship Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) site and its existing network of Bio-LNG and Bio-CNG stations serving major fleets such as Asda, Tesco, B&Q, DHL, and Ocado.
