Infinium selects Electric Hydrogen for largest e-fuels plant in Texas
Project Roadrunner to produce sustainable aviation fuel and e-diesel using U.S.-made electrolyzer technology.
Infinium has selected Electric Hydrogen’s 100 megawatt (MW) HYPRPlant electrolyzer for deployment at Project Roadrunner, a large-scale e-fuels facility under development in West Texas.
Once operational, the facility aims to become the world’s largest e-fuels production site, transforming carbon dioxide, renewable electricity, and water into sustainable fuels for aviation, maritime, and heavy transport sectors.
At the heart of Project Roadrunner will be Electric Hydrogen’s U.S.-manufactured HYPRPlant, designed to deliver clean hydrogen at industrial scale. The system is engineered to reduce total installed project costs by up to 60% compared to other electrolyzer technologies, with key components produced domestically in Massachusetts and Texas, leveraging local expertise from the state’s energy sector.
“Low-cost renewable hydrogen is a critical component to e-fuels production, and the industry needs the kind of innovation and thoughtful execution we have seen from Electric Hydrogen,” said Robert Schuetzle, CEO of Infinium.
The facility will produce sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF), eDiesel, and eNaphtha, supporting decarbonization across hard-to-electrify sectors such as aviation, heavy-duty trucking, plastics, and shipping.
Commercial production is scheduled to begin in 2027, with the project expected to bring skilled job opportunities and economic growth to the region.
