Ipiranga licenses Texaco’s return to Brazil
Chevron has tapped the Brazilian chain to sell branded fuels with Techron technology across the country.
Chevron Brands International, a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, has signed a licensing agreement with Ipiranga, celebrating the return of the Texaco brand to Brazil’s fuel retail market.
Ipiranga will be licensed by Chevron to market and sell Texaco fuels with Techron technology in Brazil, focusing on a network of the brand's stations throughout the country. Ipiranga will also operate convenience stores under Chevron's Star Mart brand.
“It's an interesting opportunity to complement our service station network, especially in markets where we already have strength with the presence of the Ipiranga brand. We will use our expertise, infrastructure and credibility to support the return of the Texaco brand, which has a history of success in the Brazilian market,” says Bárbara Miranda, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Ipiranga.
For the local chain, the move benefits the distribution market in the country, with the return of a brand recognized by consumers, and brings an international stamp to the product portfolio.
Both companies are already partners in Iconic - the current market leader in the segment - which sells lubricants, fluids and greases from the Ipiranga and Texaco brands and distributes Chevron base oils.
