Lawson upgrades over 200 stores as part of cashless shift
Convenience chain expands digital payment and cash‑in services through a new nationwide system rollout.
Lawson Philippines is advancing its digital retail strategy with the expansion of enhanced payment and wallet‑funding services across more than 200 of its stores nationwide. The convenience chain has deepened its technical integration with GCash, enabling branches to serve as both cashless payment points and accessible locations for over‑the‑counter digital wallet top‑ups.
The upgrade allows Lawson shoppers to pay using QR codes, cards or contactless tap payments. The expanded setup, driven by the EasyPOS system under GCash for Business, is designed to make transactions faster and provide customers with a reliable bridge between physical cash and the country’s growing digital‑first economy.
The retailer says the move supports its goal of modernising store operations to meet shifting consumer preferences. Lawson Philippines chief financial officer Takuya Goto highlighted how the company’s role is evolving beyond traditional merchandise.
He noted that enhanced digital tools elevate the shopping experience by positioning Lawson as a reliable channel for secure, modern financial services rather than just a traditional merchant.
