Maxol named NACS Convenience Store of the Year in Europe
The flagship location underwent a €4.5 million redevelopment, opening in late 2025 as the company's newest concept store.
Maxol has won the NACS Convenience Store of the Year Award Europe for its Long Mile Road site in Dublin, Ireland, one of four winners recognized at the 2026 NACS Convenience Summit Europe in Warsaw, Poland. The flagship location underwent a €4.5 million redevelopment, opening in late 2025 as the company's newest concept store.
"It's where we put the latest technology and design," said Brian Donaldson, CEO of The Maxol Group. "The objective here is to remove more of the friction in terms of the convenience offered to our customers. So we're absolutely delighted."
The southwest Dublin site combines an expanded Maxol Deli with a Burger King drive-thru, a Zambrero Mexican food offer, ROSA Coffee, and seating for 48 guests. It has also partnered with Dunnes Stores, stocking roughly 400 lines of ready meals, scratch-cooking ingredients, fresh produce, and wine. Founded in 1920, Maxol is Ireland's largest family-owned forecourt retailer, with 247 branded stations nationwide.
Debbie Robinson, CEO of OurCoop, received the NACS Industry Leader of the Year Award Europe. OurCoop is the UK's largest independent co-operative society, formed from the merger of Central Co-op, the Midcounties Co-operative, and Chelmsford Star Co-op.
"Debbie has shown what bold, values-driven leadership can achieve," said Henry Armour, NACS chairman emeritus and CEO international.
Marks & Spencer won the NACS Convenience Innovation of the Year Award, supported by Conexxus, for a viral TikTok campaign built around its Simply Food products. BWG Foods UC took the NACS Convenience Cares Award, supported by The Coca-Cola Company, for Climate Flow, an energy system that redistributes existing in-store airflow instead of generating new heating and cooling, first installed at its Eurospar Meakstown store.
