Milence secures €120M to expand EV truck charging network in Europe
Funding will accelerate rollout of hubs and megawatt charging systems across the continent.
Milence, the joint venture between Daimler Truck, TRATON Group and Volvo Group, has secured a €120 million financing facility to accelerate the expansion of its electric truck charging network across Europe. The funding will support new hub deployments, upgrades to existing locations, and the rollout of megawatt charging systems (MCS) to meet growing demand for zero-emission freight infrastructure.
The financing, backed by a consortium including Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management, Íslandsbanki, Invest-NL and Invest International, marks Milence’s first entry into the broader capital markets. It complements the €500 million initial equity investment from its founding shareholders and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.
Milence currently operates 34 charging hubs across eight European countries, positioning it as the largest public network dedicated to heavy-duty electric transport. The additional capital will enable the company to scale its footprint and enhance charging capacity along key freight corridors.
“Securing this €120 million facility marks an important step in scaling our network across Europe and reflects strong momentum in the market. Electric road freight is not only central to decarbonising transport, but also a key pillar of Europe’s energy transition and independence,” said Anja van Niersen, Chief Executive Officer of Milence.
The investment supports a broader industry shift toward electrification of heavy-duty transport, as logistics operators seek to reduce emissions and comply with tightening European climate targets. Milence’s expansion reflects increasing alignment between infrastructure development, financing, and policy frameworks aimed at accelerating the transition to zero-emission freight across Europe.
