OKQ8, Skellefteå Kraft expand EV strategy across Sweden
The companies have opened two super fast chargers in Huskvarna as part of an ambitious plan to develop a network of 800 charging points by 2026.
OKQ8 and Skellefteå Kraft opened two electric vehicle super fast chargers, each with two charging points, in Huskvarna, Sweden, as part of their plans to expand the EV charging network across the country. The aim is to have Sweden's largest network of 800 charging points by 2026, spread over 300 OKQ8 stations.
“We are proud to open, together with Skellefteå Kraft, two more super fast chargers in our nationwide charging network in Sweden. We are convinced that easier and faster charging will increase many people's willingness to switch to an electric car, an important part of the transition to climate-neutral mobility," said Karin Hellgren, Communications Manager at OKQ8.
When the two superchargers, of a total of four charging points, open at OKQ8 at Vårstarondellen, payment will be possible seamlessly both with a regular bank card, charging card from OKQ8 and with the OKQ8 Electric Car Charging app. Regardless of the form of payment, there will be no extra cost to the customer.
“Transport plays an important role in the transition to a sustainable society and therefore we are investing heavily in the expansion of super fast chargers at OKQ8 stations. It feels great that we are now putting two more chargers into operation so that together we make it easy for consumers to make a better choice," added Sanna Lundström, acting Head of Business area Marketing at Skellefteå Kraft.
Four OKQ8 stations have already received super fast chargers for electric cars. Örebro was the first, followed closely by Kungsbacka, Trelleborg and Upplands Väsby, and now Huskvarna. The last one is a strategically important location for electric car drivers on the road between Stockholm and Gothenburg.
By the end of 2022, both companies aim to have the network expanded to include some 50 stations throughout Sweden.
