Orlen opens first company-owned EV charging hub in Germany
New location near the A23 motorway combines ultra-fast charging, solar power and automated retail services for EV drivers.
Orlen Deutschland has inaugurated its first company-owned electric vehicle (EV) charging hub, located near the A23 motorway in Elmshorn, Germany. The site was officially opened alongside Elmshorn Mayor Erik Sachse.
The Orlen Charge hub features 16 covered high-power charging points with capacities of up to 400 kW, allowing drivers to recharge quickly while taking a break from the road. The station also includes a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 60 kWp, supporting the site's energy supply.
A key feature of the new location is its "Smart Shop," which uses "Grab & Go" technology. Customers can select snacks, drinks, coffee and other products and be billed automatically, without needing to scan items at a checkout counter. The site also offers seating areas and an accessible restroom for customer comfort during charging stops.
The Elmshorn hub marks an expansion of Orlen's Charge network, as the company continues to invest in convenient, everyday charging infrastructure aimed at supporting the shift toward e-mobility. The company credited its internal departments and external partners for delivering the project, citing strong collaboration across teams involved in its planning and execution.
