Pilot and Tesla have opened their first Megacharger site for heavy-duty electric trucks at Pilot #1390 location in Ellabell, Georgia. The site has six charging stalls delivering up to 1.2 megawatts each.

Three more sites will follow with the Flying J in Tulare, California, and locations in Fort Stockton, Texas, and North Las Vegas, Nevada. Twelve more sites are under construction along I-5, I-10 and other freight corridors in California, Georgia, Indiana, Nevada and Texas. Each will have four to eight high-power stalls built on Tesla’s V4 cabinet technology.

“Pilot is proud to bring heavy-duty charging directly to key trucking routes and pair it with the services and amenities drivers rely on,” said Shannon Sturgil, Senior Vice President of Alternative Fuels at Pilot. “With these initial locations, we’re making fleet electrification a more accessible option for long-haul transportation and are excited to continue working with Tesla to move at the pace and preference of our customers.”

Pilot is owned by Berkshire Hathaway and runs more than 900 locations in 43 US states and five Canadian provinces, serving an average of 1.2 million guests a day.
