SK Innovation, Dukyang Energen team up on Korean hydrogen network
The companies will jointly develop up to five hybrid gaseous and liquid hydrogen refueling stations in South Korea, supporting supply diversification and hydrogen mobility growth.
SK Innovation E&S and Dukyang Energen have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand hydrogen refueling infrastructure in South Korea through the development of combined gaseous and liquid hydrogen stations.
Under the agreement, Dukyang Energen will invest in and supply gaseous hydrogen to new fueling facilities built adjacent to existing liquid hydrogen stations operated by SK Innovation E&S. The latter will focus on developing demand from hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles, including buses, and on operating the integrated refueling network.
The companies plan to initially evaluate and develop five locations with strong commercial potential, taking into account regional hydrogen demand and project viability. Each station is expected to require an investment of approximately KRW 6 billion (around $4.5 million) and supply roughly 180 tonnes of gaseous hydrogen annually.
The partnership combines Dukyang Energen’s expertise in industrial hydrogen production and distribution with SK Innovation E&S’s experience in hydrogen mobility infrastructure. The companies said the collaboration is intended to improve both the reliability and economics of hydrogen refueling operations.
For both companies, the project is designed to support the continued growth of hydrogen mobility by creating a more flexible and resilient fueling infrastructure capable of serving rising demand from commercial vehicle fleets.
