SK to explore renewable potential in new partnership
The Korean Group has established an association with a subsidiary of Malaysian Petronas to for cooperation in hydrogen, renewable energy and green mobility.
SK Group has announced a new partnership to explore collaboration in hydrogen, renewable energy and green mobility, in an effort to boost green energy transition in South Korea. The conglomerate will partner with Gentari, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas).
According to a report by the Yonhap news agency, both companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for comprehensive cooperation in the clean energy sector. The agreement encompasses the three affiliates of SK: SK Materials Inc., SK Ecoplant Co. and SK Signet Inc. The three firms focus on advanced materials production, construction and recycling, and electric vehicle charging, respectively.
Both companies will cooperate in identifying joint project opportunities in the areas of hydrogen, fuel cells, and EV charging. According to the press release published by SK, both will explore other ways to expand cooperation as well. In addition, Gentari will be able to leverage existing infrastructure of Petronas for new business models in the production and distribution of hydrogen, as well as others related to EV charging.
Gentari’s clean energy solutions focus on lower carbon through renewables and hydrogen. The Korean conglomerate aims to create synergy by leveraging its technologies and capabilities in hydrogen and EV charging systems. The subsidiary provides clean energy solutions with a focus on lower carbon solutions through renewables and hydrogen.
