SPAR forays into Latin America with first store in Paraguay
The outlet is a 737m2 supermarket operated by the Amiria Group and offers customers a focus on fresh produce, a butchery and a bakery.
SPAR has entered the Latin American retail market with the opening of its first store in Paraguay.
The outlet is operated by the Amiria Group, local licensee of the brand which previously owned and operated business runs stores under the Los Jardines and Food Production Centre Innal brands. The 737m2 SPAR Supermarket opened on 5 May 2023 in the city of Luque and employs 28 people.
SPAR Paraguay seeks to provide customers with a quality shopping experience, adapting new and international best practices to meet the local community’s needs in each location. They will be able to find a selection of products, including a focus on fresh produce with the fruit and vegetable section visible from the entrance, alongside a butchery and a bakery further into the store.
In the lead-up to the launch, SPAR International supported the development team with retail store design, marketing and communication campaigns, as well as access to international retail best practices. The multi-format retailing strategy of the brand will form a basis on which SPAR Paraguay can build.
