Sunoco has partnered with Car IQ to implement contactless payment throughout the company’s service stations across the United States. By installing this solution at its sites, fleet customers will be able to purchase fuel without the need for a credit card as well as using an easier and safer payment method.

"We want to simplify how fleets pay and eliminate the need for drivers to swipe cards, enter PINS and odometer readings. By offering Car IQ’s payment solution we can help fleet customers eliminate fraud with the use of telematics data that validates each fuel transaction,” said Rich Hayes, Senior Director for Electronic Payments at Sunoco.

Its partner’s solution will be live at nearly 5,000 branded fuel locations nationwide by the end of summer 2022. This new option only requires the driver to enter the pump number, add fuel and drive away. The system allows any vehicle to communicate directly with the pump without the need of swiping a card, entering a PIN or adding the odometer reading.

“We are excited to add Sunoco as a fuel partner, and allow fleet vehicles to connect directly to their pumps and pay for fuel. Sunoco gives our fleet customers more choice when it comes to purchasing fuel. Vehicle based payments solutions are reshaping how companies manage their business operations by tying vehicle data directly to the transaction and allowing the car to connect directly to the pump, giving fleet managers more control and visibility over their budget,” added  Matt Nicholson, Senior Vice President for Merchant Commercialization at Car IQ.

By the end of the summer, nearly 5,000 Sunoco stations located across 30 states will let fleet drivers pay without the need of leaving their vehicles or using a credit card thanks to its partnership with CAR IQ.
