Tesco implements autonomous cleaning robots across 600 stores

Retailer deploys automated technology in Express locations to support operations and improve hygiene standards.

Tesco has begun deploying autonomous cleaning robots across 600 Tesco Express stores in the UK, in partnership with ICE Cobotics. The rollout marks the largest implementation of its kind in the country’s convenience sector, introducing automation to support daily store operations and maintenance.

The robots are designed to operate alongside store teams, taking over routine floor cleaning tasks while allowing employees to focus on customer service and other activities. The system uses data-driven monitoring to deliver consistent cleaning performance and provide reporting on hygiene standards.

The rollout includes full-service support across all participating locations, ensuring integration within existing store operations.
