Tyczka Hydrogen grows hydrogen network with MPREIS acquisition

Acquisition strengthens Tyczka’s presence in Austria and supports cross-border hydrogen supply for sustainable mobility.

Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH, a subsidiary of the Tyczka Group, has announced the full acquisition of MPREIS Hydrogen GmbH, marking a major milestone in its strategy to expand green hydrogen production and infrastructure network across Central Europe.

Acquired assets include MPREIS’s electrolysis plant, hydrogen refuelling station, trailer filling system, and local expert team based in Völs, Tyrol. The deal stems from a long-standing partnership between two family-owned companies, united by a shared commitment to advancing the energy transition.

Thomas Zorn, Managing Director of Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH said: “We are investing strategically in expanding an independent and reliable hydrogen supply. Together with the site team and our partners, we will further develop and strategically expand our hydrogen activities – especially towards Austria and northern Italy.”

MPREIS has been a hydrogen pioneer in western Austria, launching the country’s first hydrogen-powered truck and developing one of the region’s most advanced production facilities.

The acquisition complements Tyczka Hydrogen’s growing portfolio, which already includes investments in Hy2B Wasserstoff GmbH in Pfeffenhausen (Bavaria) and a new hydrogen hub under development in Schweinfurt. Together, these projects aim to build a regionally anchored hydrogen production network designed to strengthen supply security and enable sustainable, cross-border mobility for the future.
