Walmart reaches 100 company-owned EV charging locations

The retailer has opened its 100th fast-charging site in Colorado, advancing its strategy to expand accessible EV charging at stores across the United States.

Walmart has opened its 100th company-owned and operated electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging location, marking a milestone in the retailer’s effort to build a nationwide charging network integrated into its store footprint.

The latest site is located at a Walmart Supercenter in Monument, Colorado, bringing the company’s EV charging network to 100 stores across 20 U.S. states.

According to Walmart, the network is designed to provide customers with convenient charging options while they shop. Charging stations are positioned close to store entrances and can be accessed through the Walmart app, which allows users to start and pay for charging sessions.

“Reaching 100 sites is an important milestone, and our broad footprint positions us to make EV charging more accessible for communities while expanding the ways we serve our customers,” said Shayne Wahlmeier, Senior Vice President of Walmart Energy.

Most charging locations feature between eight and 16 fast-charging stalls and offer charging speeds of up to 400 kW. The sites support both CCS and North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors, allowing compatibility with a wide range of electric vehicles.

The expansion is part of Walmart’s broader strategy to leverage its nationwide store network as EV adoption increases. The company plans to continue adding charging sites in markets where customers need greater access to fast-charging infrastructure, working alongside utilities and other partners to bring new locations online.
