Spain: Gas station association commits to hydrogen
Both associations have agreed a series of ideas to promote the use of hydrogen as a vehicle fuel in Spain.
The Spanish Confederation of Service Station Entrepreneurs (CEEES) and the Spanish Hydrogen Association (AeH2) have signed a framework collaboration agreement on energy, sustainable mobility and the use of hydrogen in transport.
With this agreement, both institutions express their willingness to cooperate in the organization and development of activities to promote research, innovation and technological advancement.
The objective is the creation of synergies between both entities for joint activities, in addition to other types of initiatives such as the organization of conferences, colloquiums and seminars.
Jorge de Benito Garrastazu, president of CEEES, assures that "the signing of this agreement will allow CEEES associates to be placed in a position of reference and vanguard by promoting and boosting the development of infrastructures for the supply of vehicular hydrogen, which is a magnificent alternative energy to propel cars with zero emission, electric motors".
For his part, José Javier Brey Sánchez, president of the AeH2, states that "this agreement represents an important step on the road to decarbonisation in Spain, where sustainable mobility and the use of vehicles driven by alternative energies will be fundamental.”
According to data presented by both organizations, in 2030 the hydrogen industry could reach a turnover of 1,300 million euros per year, and the creation of 227,000 jobs.
CEEES represents the interests of some 5,000 service stations throughout Spain.
