Aldi Australia introduces Pizzabot for in-store trial
It's the first pizza vending machine to be designed and manufactured in the country, built to serve up restaurant-grade pizza in just two minutes.
ALDI Corner Store has launched the Pizzabot, a robotic vending machine serving up restaurant-grade pizza in just two minutes. In collaboration with Bondi start-up Placer Robotics, the machine is the first pizza vending robot to be designed and manufactured in Australia, and will debut exclusively in ALDI Corner Store in North Sydney.
“We understand our shoppers are motivated by quality, value and supporting local, and we are extremely excited by our collaboration with Pizzabot, a true Aussie innovation, to deliver great quality pizza and a unique experience, at the lowest price point. Exclusive to ALDI Corner Store, this collaboration to launch Pizzabot reflects our commitment to delighting our customers with innovation,” said Huw Longman, Director of ALDI Corner Store.
Pizzabot delivers premium restaurant-grade wood fired Pepperoni and Italiana pizzas priced from just $8.99. The robot pizza maker can cook 450 pizzas a day and it is equipped with a glass front, giving pizza-lovers a front row seat to the theater of their pizza being cooked and packaged by the robotic machine.
To ensure a restaurant quality meal that can be enjoyed while shopping, the pizza bases are handmade and partially cooked in Bondi and topped with premium local ingredients. The pizzas are then chilled in Pizzabot’s precision temperature controller so they are ready to be cooked to order in a matter of minutes.
“Our vision was to give time-poor consumers restaurant grade pizza that is quick, delicious, healthy and affordable. With their contemporary format and focus on the highest quality, local ingredients at an affordable price, it was clear from the beginning that the ALDI Corner Store was our ideal collaborator to launch Pizzabot in Australia,” added Matt Lipski, Pizzabot Founder and Managing Director.
Pizzabot is on a trial period exclusively available in ALDI Corner Store, North Sydney for a limited time. There are no current plans to launch the service in the retailer’s standard stores.
