Allego to install 160 chargers across 20 HORNBACH’s stores in the Netherlands
Partnership aims to expand convenient charging options amid grid congestion and rising EV adoption.
Allego and DIY retail chain HORNBACH have announced plans to develop 20 fast-charging hubs across the Netherlands, installing at least 160 charging stations with speeds of up to 150 kW in store parking lots.
The rollout is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with all sites expected to be operational by the end of that year. This initiative responds to the growing demand for accessible charging as electric cars and commercial vehicles gain momentum, while grid congestion increasingly limits new infrastructure development.
Emiel van Steenselen, Head of Business Development at Allego Netherlands, emphasized that the partnership matches charging habits seen nationwide. “Besides at home and at work, the need for quick interim charging at destinations people already plan to visit, such as the hardware store, is growing. Allego meets this need by offering fast chargers at these convenient locations. This allows you to quickly recharge and use your time wisely.”
Customers will be able to charge their vehicles during shopping trips, providing convenience for households and time savings for professionals traveling into low-emission city centers.

Allego operates one of Europe’s largest public charging networks, with more than 10,000 AC charging points and 57 fast-charging hubs across the Netherlands.
