Żappka Pay adds banks and card networks to expand app payments
The Żabka Group subsidiary teams up with PKO Bank Polski, Visa and Planet Pay to pilot embedded financial services within the platform.
Żappka Pay, part of the Żabka Group, has entered into a strategic partnership with PKO Bank Polski, Visa, and Planet Pay to develop a new financial services offering embedded directly within the Żappka app ecosystem.
The collaboration marks the launch of a pilot phase centered on giving selected users access to a payment card with a credit limit. This reflects Żabka’s broader strategy of integrating payments and loyalty into everyday convenience retail experiences.
With more than 10 million users already active on the Żappka app, the platform provides a ready foundation for scaling embedded financial services beyond in‑store transactions to wider payment use cases wherever Visa cards are accepted.
“We are focused on building a cohesive ecosystem where payments and loyalty benefits form a natural part of everyday shopping,” said Wojciech Krok, Managing Director at Żabka Future, noting the ambition to develop Żappka Pay for use both within and beyond the group’s store network.
Under the partnership, PKO Bank Polski provides banking expertise and operational scale, Visa supplies the payment technology, and Planet Pay is responsible for issuing the card. The cooperation aligns with PKO Bank Polski’s ecosystem‑driven strategy, designed to embed financial services into customers’ daily activities at scale.
The partners aim to create a modern payments environment where shopping, loyalty and financial services converge within a single app. The pilot phase will test customer adoption and performance ahead of a potential wider rollout across Poland, positioning Żappka Pay as a growing element of Żabka’s evolving convenience and digital commerce ecosystem.
