Buc-ee’s continues to expand its U.S. business with its first-ever North Carolina location this week.

The 75,000 square-foot store with 120 fueling stations and more than 600 parking spaces is planned for the town of Mebane, which is situated between Greensboro and Durham. The site is located at 1425 Trollingwood-Hawfields Road near the merger of Interstates 85 and 40. The travel center plans to employ roughly 225 residents. Currently, the closest Buc-ee’s to the Triangle is in Florence, South Carolina.

In anticipation of traffic congestion, Buc-ee’s has agreed to provide between $6 and $11 million in North Carolina Department of Transportation-mandated improvements to Trollingwood-Hawfields Road, including a series of corridor enhancements, turning lanes, and the widening of the highway to become three lanes, Mebane Enterprise reports.

The most recent location of the chain, known for its cleanliness and quality road food, opened in Tennessee in June of 2023 has the same amenities.

Buc-ee's has taken a slow and steady approach to expanding, however the first locations north and west of Texas are on the horizon.
