NPD has announced that retail store operations at seven of its fuel stations in New Zealand will transition to the Night ‘n Day convenience network, while the company retains ownership and operation of the fuel forecourts. The change will see the sites continue operating as 24/7 premium self-serve locations, with uninterrupted access to fuel.

The transition separates the convenience retail and fuel businesses, with Night ‘n Day taking over in-store operations and NPD focusing on fuel supply and pricing. The move aligns with the retailer’s strategy to expand its self-serve model and streamline operations around its core fuel offering.

As part of the shift, existing discount programs, including SuperGold Card and supermarket vouchers, will be discontinued. Instead, pricing will be standardized under NPD’s self-serve framework, supported by regular promotional discount days.

Barry Sheridan, CEO of NPD, said: “Night ‘n Day is a strong fit. They’re a nationwide, family-owned business with values that align closely with ours.” He added: “This transition allows us to sharpen our focus on what we do best – providing Kiwis with quality fuel at competitive prices.”

The transition will take place gradually, with both companies stating that customers will continue to be served without disruption.
