OMV Bulgaria rolls out EV fast‑charging across 21 stations
Energy retailer launches eMotion network and plans phased upgrades.
OMV Bulgaria has launched a nationwide electric vehicle (EV) charging network across its fuel retail sites, expanding its e‑mobility services under the eMotion brand.
The fuel retailer said 21 locations within its Bulgarian network are now equipped with EV charging infrastructure. Five of those sites are newly built fast‑charging stations offering power levels of up to 300 kW, enabling shorter charging times for electric vehicle drivers.
As part of the rollout, OMV Bulgaria plans to begin a phased replacement of existing charging equipment later this year. The initial focus will be on transit corridors and highway locations, where demand for fast and reliable charging is highest. At these sites, the company intends to install up to two chargers per location, each with a capacity of up to 300 kW and a minimum of four connectors.
The Bulgarian deployment forms part of OMV’s broader regional strategy to scale its EV charging footprint across Central and Southeast Europe. The Austrian energy group has set a target of installing around 2,000 charging points by 2030 across Austria, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria, with most of them designed for fast charging between 150 kW and 300 kW.
OMV entered the Bulgarian market in 1998 and currently operates close to 90 filling stations nationwide. The expansion of its EV charging infrastructure reflects growing demand for high‑power charging solutions and the company’s efforts to adapt its fuel retail network to evolving mobility trends.
