OMV Petrom launches Romania’s largest EV charging hub
New site offers 34 ultra-fast charging points for electric cars and trucks with 10 MW capacity.
OMV Petrom has inaugurated Romania’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging hub, located along the A1 motorway.
The site features 34 ultra-fast charging points, 16 for electric passenger cars and 18 for electric trucks, with a total installed power of 10 MW. Split across two OMV stations, each location is equipped with 17 chargers capable of delivering up to 300 kW, enabling full EV charging in 15–20 minutes, while the truck chargers provide 400 kW, allowing full recharging in 1.5 to 2 hours, dramatically reducing typical overnight charging times.
“This is more than just a refueling stop—it’s a high-tech, comfortable destination for both commercial and private drivers,” said Adrian Nicolaescu, head of Retail Activities at OMV Petrom Marketing. “We aim to stand out through infrastructure quality and customer experience.”
The hub was developed under a concession agreement with CNAIR, the Romanian National Road Infrastructure Administration Company.
It also includes a full-service OMV Viva area with extended parking, retail offerings, premium food, and essential travel services such as toll payments and vignettes.
OMV Petrom currently operates around 780 stations across Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, and Serbia, and has developed a regional network of approximately 1,000 EV chargers.
