OSCAR Downstream, part of Alfa Group, is the largest independent fuel distribution company in Romania and one of top five companies in the domestic fuel market. With a logistics infrastructure in continuous development, the company has currently reached a storage capacity of 65.000 cbm in its 7 own fuel warehouses and a network of over 100 gas stations available both to B2C and B2B customers across Romania.
The OSCAR portfolio includes the diesel supply by different distribution channels: en-gross sales, OSCAR DIESEL point in-house fueling stations and OSCAR fleet cards, completed by integrated services adapted to the specifics of each industry and customer. The portfolio also includes gasoline, adblue, bitumen and lubricants.
In 2004, OSCAR Downstream was the first to introduce the in-house fueling station DIESELpoint concept and service, covering the southern region of the country. This became the main growth driver of the company, expanding to national coverage with more than 2500 active DIESELpoint fueling stations in January 2023.
Starting with 2017, as part of the strategy to pierce the fuel retail market, Oscar has launched its retail franchise – under the brand “RO concept OSCAR”. In addition, last year OSCAR added a strategic new partnership with PetroSol offering state-of-the-art services and solutions in the industries in which they operate.
As a result of this collaboration, on December 1st, 2022, OSCAR has released a completely new Card Management System which allows all the fleet card customers to have better and friendlier access to all the OSCAR card system advantages like: online access to all card transactions, credit limits, real time notifications, consumption reports, and many others. Altogether with this upgraded platform, OSCAR released a completely new set of fleet cards for its customers, cards that include a state-of-the-art technology – a new and improved contactless system. Back in 2018, OSCAR was the first company on the market that offered contactless fleet cards to its B2B customers.
This new integrated system, as part of a fleet card payment solution, it is also the base for a future extension of the products and services available using the OSCAR fleet card: access to OSCAR premium fuel brands like Actis and Fortis, diesel and gasoline, access to road taxes and shop products.
New Outdoor Payment Terminals have been installed and are already available throughout the DIESELPoint Access network offering the card customers a swift way to pay for the fuel directly at the pump, as unattended payment method, and are to be implemented, as soon as possible, in the RO Concept OSCAR franchise stations. One of the major advantages of the system is the user-friendly interface with a fast and intuitive touchscreen system, without the need of additional assitance for partners and customers. The system also brings the needed flexibility to implement the latest functionalities and helps optimizing the OSCAR internal processes, as well as those of OSCAR Downstream partners.
