The operator of the retail brand announced the deployment of automated equipment throughout more than 10% of its network.
President Chain Store Corp (PCSC), China’s largest convenience store operator, announced the introduction of new automated coffee machines at some of its 7-Eleven stores.
The deployment seeks to boost coffee sales and operational efficiency by installing the equipment at 720 outlets of the brand by the end of the year, roughly 10 percent of its total footprint. According to a report by local news site Taipei Times, the company aims to leverage the country’s high consumption levels of the hot beverage, as the firm stated that people drink nearly 2.85 billion cups a year.
PCSC also confirmed that coffee sales have increased 1.6 times over the past 10 years, with customers focusing on personalization and premium coffee flavors. This initiative will also involve the future announcement of more co-branded projects and the promotion of coffee culture throughout its footprint.
President Chain expects to increase sales of specialty coffee by 30 percent throughout 2023. The firm currently operates 6,683 stores across the country.
