Pemex taps ride-hailing apps for its Gasolinas Bienestar program

The national oil company’s initiative currently has over 100,000 cards operating and seeks to integrate fleets from platforms such as Uber and Cabify.

Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) announced that it aims to integrate app-based fleets to its Gasolinas Bienestar affiliation program.

The national oil company’s initiative issues cards to manage fleet refueling operations and now seeks to incorporate vehicles that are part of Uber, Cabify and more app-based services. The announcement was made during the most recent edition of Onexpo: Convention & Expo, organized by the National Organization of Petroleum Vendors (Onexpo).

Leopoldo Figueroa, transportation manager of Pemex Transformición Industrial, announced the move during the event. Currently, the company has almost 6,400 service stations operating under the Gasolinas Bienestar program.

"Although we are still very focused on the government sector, we are about to open the initiative to the private sector," explained Figueroa according to a report by Milenio.

He also pointed out that there are currently more than 100,000 cards operating in the local market and 98,000 registered drivers.
