Poland: Eurocash shows interest in Zabka
Polish wholesaler Eurocash expressed interest in bidding for the largest Polish convenience store chain Zabka Polska, reported European Supermarket Magazine.
Eurocash president Luis Amaral confirmed the company’s plan in an interview with Portugese newspaper Jornal de Negócios.
The wholesaler also targets to overtake Biedronka, the current market leader in Poland in terms of sales.
Zabka Polska, owned by Mid Europa Partners, operates more than 2,600 Zabka and Freshmarket-branded stores in Poland and generated sales of approximately €1.3 billion ($1.44 billion) in 2015.
