Portugal: Cepsa chooses Auchan for its new c-store concept
A new model of franchised My Auchan convenience stores will replace the existing Depasso brand.
Spanish fuel retailer Cepsa will partner with Auchan, the French supermarket group, to open convenience stores in Portugal.
Cepsa will open a network of franchised convenience stores at its Portuguese stations that will slowly replace the existing Depasso stores, reports El Economista.
On Tuesday, the first My Auchan opened at a Cepsa service station in Odivelas. The concept combines convenience, fresh food and Auchan-branded products.
“Auchan Retail franchising guarantees the expertise and personalized support of the brand to our partners. We want to develop a network of passionate entrepreneurs, who share Auchan's values, its vision and its success, and we believe that, in this way, we are creating value, through a win-win relationship and a commitment of trust and success, for a new generation commerce,” said Jaime Lemos, Franchising Director of Auchan Retail Portugal.
With this deal Cepsa replicates its existing partnership with Carrefour in Spain, where it also started to phase out the Depasso brand in favour of the French supermarkets.
Cepsa currently has a network of 240 gas stations in Portugal.
