Tsunami Express Car Wash has completed the acquisition of 53 Take 5 Car Wash locations from Whistle Express, in a move that significantly expands its presence across the US Midwest. The deal triples the company’s regional footprint and brings its network to 74 sites across nine states, including Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
The expansion reflects a wider trend of consolidation in the car wash industry, where regional operators are seeking scale and brand recognition. By taking over the Whistle Express sites, Tsunami Express gains access to several priority markets and strengthens its position as one of the fastest-growing operators in the region.
Chief executive Chris Schuldt described the outlets as “a strong fit for our growth strategy”, saying the acquisition would allow the company to introduce its premium services to new communities. All locations will be rebranded under the Tsunami Express name and upgraded with what the firm calls its “CleanTech experience”, featuring updated equipment, amenities and subscription options.
Tsunami Express, which relaunched in 2022, has grown rapidly through a strategy focused on expansion and standardisation of services. The acquisition underlines the competitive pressures in the sector, where customer experience and loyalty schemes are becoming central to long-term growth.
