Vietnam's fuel retailers guilty of rampant fraud
Vietnamese motorists suffer rampant gas station fraud as many operators overcharge drivers for fuel.
Customers complain about the scale of fuel retailing fraud and the government’s ineffectiveness to face the issue, reported Radio Free Asia.
According to the news source, some operators install a chip in the meter in order to make customers believe they are getting the amount of fuel they paid for, but in fact they are receiving less.
Vietnam´s government has made some efforts to crack down on gas stations fraud, with state media reporting that between April and September of 2015, inspection teams fined 232 filling stations with a total of $380,000 for overcharging related practices.
