Viva Energy cleared to acquire 100 Liberty sites
The company committed to divesting 14 sites to Solo Oil Corporation to address competition concerns.
Viva Energy will acquire 50% stake in LOC Global from New World Corporation, gaining full ownership of over 100 Liberty-branded fuel and convenience stores across Australia. To address competition concerns, the company committed to divesting 14 sites to Solo Oil Corporation.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) approved the transaction after accepting Viva Energy’s legally binding undertakings. The divestments aim to preserve competition in key markets, particularly in South Australia, Queensland, Victoria, and the Northern Territory.
“Without these divestments, the acquisition could have led to higher prices and reduced service levels. The agreed divestments ensure competitive choices remain available to consumers,” said ACCC Commissioner Philip Williams.
This move follows a similar deal in December 2023, when Viva Energy gained ACCC clearance to acquire OTR Group after agreeing to divest 25 Coles Express locations in South Australia.
