Weigel’s introduces in app Trivia feature to mark 95th anniversary
The trivia experience also highlights Weigel’s name, image and likeness partnerships with local athletes.
Weigel’s has launched a new trivia feature within its mobile app, offering customers an interactive way to earn reward points while engaging with the company’s history and regional sports partnerships.
Rolled out during the retailer’s 95th anniversary year, the feature presents rotating questions about the brand’s heritage, from its early days at Broadacre Farms in Powell to milestones that established Weigel’s as one of East Tennessee’s first convenience retailers. Correct answers grant users bonus points in the MyWeigel’s Rewards programme, a mechanism the company says encourages both loyalty and familiarity with its past.
The trivia experience also highlights Weigel’s name, image and likeness (NIL) partnerships with local athletes. Some questions reference recent sports performances, offering users a way to follow the athletes representing the brand while interacting with the app between store visits. Weigel’s describes this blend of sport, local identity and rewards as an effort to create “ongoing engagement” beyond transactions.
Developed in collaboration with Rovertown, the company behind Weigel’s app infrastructure, the trivia module is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing loyalty features. The retailer says the approach reflects a broader strategy to use lightweight gamification and storytelling to build personalised, community‑focused digital experiences.
