Z Energy to roll out over 1,000 smart EV chargers in New Zealand
The retailer has partnered with Evnex to deploy the equipment across homes and businesses in the country.
Z Energy has announced the roll out of over 1,000 smart EV chargers to homes and small businesses across New Zealand.
This marks an important step in the company’s journey towards a lower-carbon economy and renewable fuels as Evnex’s smart chargers will be available through a special offer to Z’s customers later this year. The mobility firm owns electricity retailer Flick Electric and has a deep understanding of customer transport needs, trends and future technology.
“This partnership reflects that there is a new generation of fuel powering our cars. Z is serious about supporting electrification of transport both in customers’ homes and across its service station network as we look for opportunities to lead the development of a low carbon economy,” said Nic Williams, Z’s GM of Strategy and Low Carbon.
Evnex facilitates one of the largest networks of charging infrastructure in New Zealand and is growing, with over 2,500 smart chargers across the country.
The country’s Motor Industry Association’s latest figures report that the sales of vehicles with some form of electrification in 2022 almost doubled compared to 2021, rising from 23,173 to 41,103 registrations last year.
