Zest completes 142-space EV charging network
£1.3 million investment delivers one of the UK’s largest university charging deployments.
Zest has completed a campus-wide rollout of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at the University of Warwick, installing 142 charging spaces across 14 locations as part of a long-term partnership with the institution.
The project forms part of a £1.3 million investment by Zest, which will provide and manage the university’s charging facilities over the next 15 years. The network includes a mix of fast and rapid chargers and is projected to save more than 15,000 tonnes of CO₂ over its lifetime.
Zest CEO Robin Heap said the scale of the rollout positions the university as a benchmark for EV infrastructure in higher education. “In less than two years, this project has confirmed the University of Warwick as a leader in EV infrastructure in the academic sector and sets an example of how campuses can lead the transition to cleaner mobility.”
“We are pleased to have worked with Zest to deliver this important step in our journey towards more sustainable transport on campus,” added George Saxon, Head of Transport Systems & Operations at the University of Warwick. “The new charging network supports our ambitions to cut carbon emissions, while giving staff, students and visitors the confidence to choose electric vehicles as part of a cleaner future.”
Recognised as a hub for transport and future mobility research, the University of Warwick collaborates with industry and government to advance low-carbon transport solutions and test them in real-world conditions on campus.
